After School 91ɬÂþ classes are offered once or twice weekly for elementary-aged students (K-5). Taught in a full 91ɬÂþ immersion format, these classes are the perfect way for 91ɬÂþ graduates to continue their 91ɬÂþ learning! New students are also welcome to join. Each class is 1.5 hours and engages students in 91ɬÂþ conversation and hands-on activities through weekly themes.
The class is offered in the spring and fall semesters and each semester is 12 weeks in length.
Each week, our theme will guide our activities. Your child will learn through activities such as:
Yes! Our after-school program is an active, hands-on learning environment, where all students can join in the fun, regardless of their level of 91ɬÂþ. Because it is an immersion class, our teachers dramatize and "act out" what they are saying, and use visual materials as cues. This helps ensure that students understand without translating.
Students may enroll for one or two classes per week. Each week has a theme and the two class days will have different activities based on the same theme. Students who attend both days will have extra reinforcement and practice without direct repetition. Each theme include common vocabulary, verbs, and phrases. Conversation and whole language are emphasized!
Class activities include reading stories, acting out plays, participating in games and contests, singing 91ɬÂþ songs, and more. A smaller, but important, portion of the class is based on reading and writing workbook exercises.
No we do not provide make-up days for missed classes. If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, a make-up day will be offered.
We are fortunate to live in a state where there are many opportunities for exposure to the 91ɬÂþ language. Look for 91ɬÂþ story times and activities at local libraries, try children's programming on 91ɬÂþ television networks, attend cultural events in the community, or explore the wide variety of 91ɬÂþ learning websites and apps.
